through movement we remember our essence is wise, wild and free.
Qoya is movement with meaning - a sacred container to bring you home to your body. It’s about getting out of your head and into your body. Your body is where your intelligence lies, it’s where you will find your truth, your purpose, your essence. When we dance Qoya what our minds have made complicated becomes simple once again. Alway, always, always we return to love.
Classes are based on the idea that through movement we remember. We remember our essence is wise, wild and free. Wise, wild and free draw reference to the movement modalities of Qoya:
Wise: calling on the wisdom of yoga.
Wild: the creative expression in dance.
Free: expanding our capacity to enjoy being in our bodies through feminine movement.
Through a 3 day immersion with over 11-hours of in person training with Sonja and supplementary online training, you will learn teaching methods, teach practice classes to friends and family, deepening your understanding of Qoya through your own experience.
The Initiation 2 day Immersion is designed to be a gateway - a crossing of the threshold back to yourself. Surrounded by the New Forest, your tribe of sisters and space to reflect, you will take your next step towards your most precious life.

QOYA was created by Rochelle Schieck, a yoga and dance teacher with training in 4 Directions Shamanism. She received the call to create a women’s embodiment practice whilst visiting sacred sites within Peru. Where many popular meditation practices ask us to transcend the body, Qoya is a meditation practice that invites us to embody the sacred through movement - to fully feel and celebrate the full human experience within our body in recognition of our capacity to bridge the mundane and the divine.
The process is profound, transformational and courageous.
Qoya is designed to feel how the body and movement are a portal to remembering, to feel our perspective shift from going through the motions to savouring life as sacred. From being in our heads to being in our body. Qoya stands for embodiment. As we dance Qoya, we encourage one another to shine confidently as a woman who remembers she is wise, wild and free.

WHY IS QOYA FOR WOMEN ONLY?
Qoya is about creating a safe space for a woman to truly feel. To go inwards and honour the Intelligence within the cells of her being. This is a courageous intention in a world that leans towards numbing the internal and pleasing the external world. By creating a woman-only environment, we minimise the distractions and support the journey inwards. After Qoya, we are better able to love and support the masculine within us and around us!
WHAT ARE THE PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR QOYA?
Because Qoya is inviting you to tap into the Intelligence within your body, there is no way you can do it wrong. Nobody gets to be the authority on how you move, only you. This means that Qoya can be practiced by every level of physical ability.
HOW WILL A SESSION UNFOLD?
We shall open our session with some simple breath work, calling our awareness to our internal environment, soothing the body and stilling the mind. We shall dance Qoya to mindfully choreographed beautiful, uplifting music. The movement draws primarily on traditions of yoga and dance, with a gentle thread of The Four Winds Shamanic lineage and a deep tantric respect for the sacredness of the physical temple that is our body. Our session will close with a deep guided relaxation.
WHAT WILL YOU NEED TO BRING?
Water and clothes that you can move in.
